As I think about it, I think the difference is the sense of urgency and community. Almost everyone at the mall is there for the same thing: to get a gift for someone that is important to them. No matter who we are, where we come from, or our background - our search binds us together. Within those packed corridors, among the bad mall food, and overflowing parking lots we are all the same!
During Advent, we are all the same to God. He sent His Son to all . . . regardless of who we are, where we came from, and what our background is. We hold this in common, ‘while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.’ “
