2 Corinthians 5:19-20 NIV

We have jobs to do every day. Each one of us have tasks to do: grocery shopping, shoveling (ugh), laundry, etc. Whether you work at home or go to a job - you have a job to do! Here in 2 Corinthians 5:19-20 Paul reminds the Christians there that he (Paul) and his coworkers in the Gospel (Timothy, etc) have a job to do too. Their job is not laundry, taking the dog out, etc. but their job is to be Christ’s ambassadors. Their task is to represent Christ and His mission to those around them, in their circles of influence. They aren’t bringing just any news as ambassadors, they are bringing the message of reconciliation. The message that tells others of God’s love for them as as seen in the person and work of Jesus Christ. Everything that Christ is and teaches, that is what Paul and his coworkers are all about; that is what they represent.
As we go about our work today, let’s not forget that we are ambassadors. Everything that we do matters . . . everything we do represents the message of the Gospel to everyone we encounter. Let’s fulfill our task well by remembering how important our task is to the world as we bring Christ to each one of them!
