Psalm 59:16 NRSV

I’ll admit it - I’m a sing-in-the-car kind of guy. When a song comes on that I love I turn up the volume on the radio . . . and my voice :). My love of singing loud and proud is enhanced when I’m in a good mood or if something during the day has gone well. I’m more inspired to sing when I’m in a good mood. Often driving is the time when I reflect on God’s faithfulness in my and my family’s life. I get motivated remembering that I’m God’s child and He has a plan and purpose for my life. Good times or bad - I’m God’s child. When I remember this - watch out neighbors because I’m gonna be singing!
Here in Psalm 59, David does a bit of singing! Despite being bullied and beat down, David sings about God’s “steadfast love” in his life. I think it is an important point here that David sings in the morning. Why? Because this means that David’s praises to God come as one of the first things that he does. One of the first things that David does is praise God for His faithfulness. David was going through some rough stuff, nevertheless he praised God for keeping him alive so far.
I don’t know if you like to sing in the car or not (or even the shower :). Either way, take a minute today to praise God for what He has done in your life. How has God been faithful? How has God blessed you? How has He shown you His presence today? However He has, member to “sing aloud” of God’s steadfast love today! Who knows, maybe you will inspire someone else to sing as well . . .
